KEY DEPARMENTS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS

WTO REFERENCE CENTER (http://www.wtoinfo.net.cn)

The Center was established in December 2000 with the support of the WTO headquarters and is an integral part of the WTO global network of reference centers. It is the first WTO Reference Center ever authorized by the WTO in China. The major focus is to provide WTO-related information services to government authorities and business sector, so as to help them to be better prepared for China's entry into the WTO.

The information services provided by the Reference Center mainly include:

* Guide to WTO rules
* Introduction to WTO members and regional economic groupings
* Business guide to WTO
* Latest and comprehensive information about the world trade
* Cases of trade dispute settlement
* Comments on anti-dumping cases
* Implications of the WTO membership for specific sectors
* Preferential treatments offered by the WTO to developing countries
* Conditions of market access in WTO member countries


INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION DEPARTMENT

The major focus is to network with international organizations and organize international exchange activities. The major international and foreign cooperation partners of the network are:

* UNDP
* German Government/GTZ
* The World Trade Organization (WTO)
* The World Bank
* International Republican Institute, the United States
* Maastricht School of Management of the Netherlands
* Rural Development Institute, University of Washington State
* Central Institute for Economic Management in Vietnam

Major functions:
* Development and management of bilateral and multilateral cooperation projects
* Building up CIRD's cooperation with international organizations
* Organizing international conferences, symposiums, seminars and training programs
* Organizing study tours in foreign countries
* Providing joint research services
* managing fellowships and guest research programs
* providing interpretation and translation services
