The Second Conference of Tsignhua Sanya International Mathematics Forum (TSIMF) kicked off on December 20th in Sanya. The Forum was organized by Tsinghua University and Sanya Municipal people’s government, with the intellectual support by CIRD. Jiang Sixian, vice governor of Hainan province and party secretary of Sanya municipality, and Hu Heping, party secretary of Tsinghua University, gave opening remarks. CIRD president Prof. Chi Fulin and Prof. Freeman from Harvard University were invited to give key-note speeches in the first session. Prof. Chi thinks that economic transformation towards consumption-driven growth is not only the probing point of short-term policies, but also a strategic choice in the medium and long run. It is not only a determining factor for China’s equitable and sustainable development, but also plays an important role in rebalancing the world economy. Prof. Chi explained his statement from the follow three points: first, we shall clarify China’s choice of development towards consumption-driven growth; second, consumption-led growth pattern is a means of guarantee to maintain high growth rate; third, we shall promote the transformation and reforms that towards consumption-driven growth in a speedy manner.
